Basketball Leads to Hard Work and Dedication

Growing up in the Cottonwood area, Ryan VanWagenen always loved to play basketball.  Lucky for Ryan his closest three friends enjoyed playing as well.  It was not uncommon for them to play up to 6 hours a day, especially on the weekends.  This hard work paid off well as these four best friends ended up playing on the high school varsity team, with two of them continuing to play Division 2 basketball.  The experience taught the four hard work and dedication.  Without all the hours and repetitions put into practicing, none of them could have even played in high school.  The four would also watch just about every Jazz basketball game together growing up and Karl Malone and John Stockton were motivation to become the best that they could become.

Ryan Van Wagenen feels that the hard work children put into sports often pays off later in life when it comes time for career.  When you spend the time to work hard and do whatever it takes to succeed, typically failure is not an option.  So when you graduate college and begin working and pushing through a career not knowing much about what you are doing, memories of pushing to accomplish something on the court can help push you to succeed.  Good friends and hard work from an early age make the world of difference and give the confidence that is needed to succeed later in life!
